Panasonic recommends a 32-degree field of view. We recommend this distance for bedrooms and living rooms for mixed usage. It will provide slightly better immersion than SMPTE distance. We can calculate it as follows:

While THX recommends a 40-degree field of view, we recommend this distance for 4k TVs in media rooms and theater rooms for watching movies to get theater-like immersion and presence.

It is also a good size for master bedrooms and medium to large living rooms. The rule is simple, if you can maintain the required viewing distance for 65-inch TV in your room, you can go for it. But if you can’t maintain the required distance of 8.1-8.9 feet in your room, a 65-inch TV is too big for you.

Regarding features and pricing, you get what you pay for. 

For 50, 55 and 65 inches, you can get both 1080p to 4k resolution and any screen type like LED, QLED or OLED. But we highly recommend you go with 4K.

When it comes to smart features, you can get smart features in every size. You can get streaming apps, an app store, a media player, a voice assistant, WIFI and Bluetooth. 

The only noticeable difference is the price. You can save up to $200-400 if you go with a smaller size.

But I would suggest going as big if your room and pocket size allows you. The Big screen TVs give you a more immersive and entertaining experience. The research shows that #1 buyer remorse is buying a smaller size TV.

1-Samsung QN90C/QN90CD 65-inch TV (High END TV)

Samsung Q90CD is a 2023 release that comes in almost all popular sizes like 50, 55, 65 and above. I recommend this TV due to several reasons. First, it is a good TV for mixed usage whether you watch movies, shows or play games, it won’t disappoint you.

Second, it brings the latest Samsung Neural Quantum processors, which enhances its 4k upscaling capabilities. The build quality of the TV feels very premium due to high-quality materials like metals and quality plastic. 

I am also impressed with the picture quality of the TV. The contrast ratios are very high, SDR & HDR brightness is also superb, colors are also very vibrant due to its high, wide color gamut and volume. 

It is one of the best TVs for watching sports due to its wide viewing angles, better reflection handling and good response time. 

But what about gaming? I think it is a solid performer when it comes to gaming. It features advanced gaming capabilities like 120Hz refresh rate, variable refresh rate, and HDMI 2.1. 

And the input lag is minimal.  

2- Samsung CU8000 TV 43, 55-inch (Budget TV)

Samsung CU8000 is also a 2023 release from Samsung. It costs almost half as compared to Samsung QN90CD. 

It is a good TV for watching movies due to the wide color gamut, but its brightness is average. So it is not a good tv for bright rooms.

It features 4k upscaling, and the results are very decent as well. You are getting Tizen OS with all its amenities like streaming apps, games and other features. 

It is an average TV for gaming because it has a 60hz refresh rate only. 

At the end of the day, it is a budget TV good for casual usage.
